Jimmy’s killer prawns really do have killer prawns. Their prawn special is excellent if you’re a seafood fan.

The atmosphere is casual and family orientated. A bustling restaurant that spans the centre aisle at the Woolworths end of Canal Walk shopping centre. They speacialise in seafood, but their meat dishes and grills are not bad.

Try the Mozambican platter if you’re into hot stuff and chicken livers. For some reason it’s not on the menu anymore but still available if you ask.

They have a buffet available as well. Quite reasonable, R150 per person from last Friday’s check. While they don’t have a play area ala Spur, they are child friendly.

There is no official kiddies menu but there is plenty to choose from for the kids. Service is so-so. It’s not the kind of place you go if you have high expectations.

It’s laid back, and busy and sometimes you wait a little longer than you’d like. But all in all, it’s worth it for a casual dinner before or after the movies.

I wouldn’t feed this to my dogs if I had any.
Order meat medium all came Well Done, 4 year old son tasted his and did not want to eat it, turned it around and saw that it was burnt. Sent it back. Manager/owner does not apologise, but sent us dirty looks, replacement too extremely long to arrive. By that time child no longer wanted to eat. Complained to Franchise Owner/Manager till to this day has not contacted us. They a bunch of cowards who actually served a child burnt food to cover their mistakes…Have not returned and never will.

agree with Mohamed Ismail’s review. once went there (maybe 2 years ago) with friends and family for their ifthaar buffet. the food was ok, nothing worth mentioning, but the prawns we were looking forward to (and was only served very late, not part of buffet) was miserly small and wasn’t appealing at all. they’re no-longer in the middle section since the review, they’ve moved to another (smaller?) end of the mall.. probably due to lack of business.. actually surprised they’re still keeping their doors open.

In Durban this is a firm favourite.. alas in Cape Town, they’ve not kept up the tempo.

Been to a few Jimmys in Durban and Joburg.Canal Walk is By far the worst . Food was really not upto standards for a franchise. Calamari wasnt even remotely edible. Bringing major disrepute to the Jimmys franchise. Surprised they still have a franchise license
