On hearing of a new burger joint, King Of The Grill, having opened in Bergvliet, I decided to give it a try. Ofcourse it goes without saying that I’m a sucker for trying new food outlets and restaurants. The shop is situated on Main Road Bergvliet. It is fairly small and is run as a takeout joint, thus they don’t offer any sitdown area. There are however seats while you wait for your order. There is some old school style chalkboard art as well as graffiti art which I thought was quite cool.

Now, onto the food. I tried the cheese burger, sticky wings with chips and the chicken carbonaro pasta. They also offer a range of pizzas which I decided would be a tad too much so I gave that a skip. The portions were large enough for me to share with my mum and 2 sisters. The cheese burger was juicy, tasty and had a lovely smoky flavour. I have to say that it was substantial and filling. The sticky wings were a winner with my mum. I am not a fan of wings but tried it and found that I enjoyed the flavour, they used a nice sauce combination for basting. The chips were hot and fresh, I ended up eating more of those than I should have. On trying the pasta, I found that it was too salty, and I didn’t particularly enjoy the peri-peri type spice on it. It was however creamy enough and the mushrooms added to the texture well. Price wise, you would pay R50 for a cheese burger and chips, R50 for sticky wings and chips and R65 for the pasta. Overall the food was good value for money and I would definitely order from them again if I am looking to indulge in fast food.
