Getting married? Planning a wedding can be a joyous albeit a stressful time. I’ve compiled a list of halaal venues that provide an all in one service. Hire the venue and get your catering and decor all done by the same company. Trust me, it’s a huge stress off your mind when it can all be handled by the same people. So you can focus on your dress, your make-up, your entourage and how not to go off the deep end before your big day.
Some of these venues I’ve experienced myself and I will give my personal input for those. Others would be sourced from their websites.

Cape Town

Cathkin Caterers, Tuscany Villa

An intimate, cosy and stylish venue for an engagement or small wedding. I’ve been to several functions here. The food is always top notch and the service is consistently good. The grounds outside with the swimming pool and garden makes for a picturesque setting for photographs.

Barrons Estate, Knowles Park

This venue is a built up double volume hall that from the outside feels like a large home. It’s located in the Ottery farmlands area so while the surroundings are less than enticing the venue is a pleasant respite. There is a small foyer which is handsomely decorated and affords a nice welcome area for your guests. My brother was married in this venue and the service and decor were excellent. We provided our own food so I cannot comment on their menu unfortunately.

Country Manor, Schaapkraal

Country Manor used to strike an impressive picture as a huge white marquee until the Cape Town wind proved to be stronger than the structure and literally blew the top of the tent open during a function. It was then built up into a solid structure with no risk of weather related issues. It is an established convention centre aimed at catering for various formats of larger scale events. They have an open plan venue large enough to cater for up to 800 people including an attractive foyer area in which to greet your guests upon arrival. Ample safe parking is available. Note, it is in the farmlands, and walking in heels on the unpaved parking can prove challenging. Toilets also include a baby change station.

Roggeland Country House, Paarl

Set on a Heritage farm in Paarl, Roggeland offers a unique country style wedding experience with all the modern extravagances. The setting makes for interesting photography and is perfect for an outdoors summer wedding. They also offer accomodation for a small number of guests or a guestroom for the bride to prepare in on the day.

Hilton Hotel, Cape Town

The Hilton hotel offers a banqueting venue in the way of 6 adjoining meeting rooms which together can accommodate a small to medium function. Johannesburg

While it proved to be much more difficult to find fully halaal turn key venues in Joburg and Durban, I did manage to locate a few.

Image Lifestyle Wedding & Conference Centre

Image Lifestyle venue is a Muslim owned company that can facilitate weddings and conferences in a central location, easily accessible to all major highways and on the doorstep of Central Johannesburg. The establishment comprises of a multi million rand refurbishment to provide a secure and exclusively elegant venue with extensive, on site private parking which is a rare find in other centrally located venues.

They offer three different settings each having a distinctive character. The first venue, The Pearl Room has a 500 people banquet style capacity. The Sapphire Room can accommodate up to 1500 seated guests comfortably. An exclusive garden venue can also be utilized separately. Each of the indoor venues has a stylish and creative decor with a lot of natural light and elegant chandeliers to create an ambience of uncompromised lavishness and style. Image Lifestyle caters for weddings, fashion shows, charity and cultural events, barbecues and corporate functions.

This is a smaller Muslim owned establishment which is a converted house and is suitable for smaller functions. They specialise in bridal and baby showers and also do intimate birthdays and weddings.

Mount Usambara, Krugersdorp

Mount Usambara is situated at the top of the famous Muldersdrift Hill, just outside of Krugersdorp. and offers panoramic views aptly called “World’s View”. Both Johannesburg and Pretoria is 30 minutes away.

This venue, while not strictly halaal makes more provision that most other venues for Muslim patrons. A large venue can seat 750 people. The Grand Hall also features a stage, complete with a chaise. They have made provision for Salaah and Wudu facilities as well. As their kitchen is not halaal, you may bring in your own food and use their crockery and cutlery or bring your own if preferred. All other services such as waiters, decor etc. are included.

Balmoral Hotel, Durban
