Stellenbosch has a larger Muslim community than one would think, so it’s really quite surprising that fully halaal dining has not taken hold in this town yet. Central town still known as the “dorp” is bustling with trendy food spots, student hangouts and markets but halaal is still something you have to hunt for. This lovely town makes for a beautiful and scenic drive out and if you don’t want to pack your own lunch there are a few spots where you can get halaal food. It’s mostly of the fast food variety, but if you’re just a bit creative you can make a delicious picnic out of the basics. Pair it with the scenic Stellenbosch countryside views and you have a weekend winner.
