These days I seldom feel like I’m prepared for Ramadaan. Life is moving so fast that before you know it, it is first Taraweeh and we start fasting on autopilot. The pace has become hard and fast, and time for introspection seems like a luxury. It is even more challenging than before to make time for Ibaadah, but make time we must. It is in this time that we will find respite from the madness, and comfort for the soul.
I ponder this year also on all the Muslims around the world who will not have the comforts of an easy fast like I have. Be it because of the long long days in the North, or because of war and strife in many Muslim countries. I am especially troubled by the new attacks in Gaza, as I’ve realised that for the last few years Israel have launched a major attack each year just before Ramadaan. This is no more than an evil quest to break the spirit of the Palestinian Muslims and I pray the Almighty will give them strength to weather even this injustice.
I pray that your Ramadaan is a peaceful and rewarding one and that we all partake of the blessings afforded us in this time.
From my family to yours
