Qurbani Services in South Africa

Updated: June 2023

The Prophet Muhammed (SAW) said: “Whoever offers their sacrificial animal with a content heart and hoping it’s reward (from Allah), this (sacrificial animal) will be a shield protecting them from the fire of Jahannam (hell).” (Tabarani, Al Mu’jam Al-Kabir).

Qurbani means sacrifice. Every year during the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims around the world slaughter an animal – a goat, sheep, cow or camel – to reflect the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God.

Many Muslims try to perform and witness their own Qurbani. Though it is not always possible it is recommended –
Hazrat Ali (R.A) reports that Rasulullah (S.A.w) said to Hazrat Fatimah (R.A):
“O Fatimah! Go and witness your Qurbani, because the first drop of blood that falls from it causes all your sins to be forgiven. On the Day of Qiyamah, this animal will be brought with its blood and flesh and will be placed on your scale increasing it seventy times more.

Today their are many service providers of Qurbani. You can even book and pay for it online and have it done in your own or a different country. Though it is recommended to have it done within your own community or as close as the need is possible. Here are service providers by region in South Africa.
