Del Forno is one of my favourite places to go for a nice dinner out. The service is consistently good and the menu offers lots of choice. They have just launched their new menu for the season and we were hosted by Del Forno Killarney to try out some of the new items available.
I tried the new Coffee Over Ice – Salted Caramel flavour. While this was a lovely refreshing coffee, the cream made it too rich to have at the the start of my meal. Note to self, save this one for dessert. I thought the salted caramel flavour could have been stronger also.

One of the new starters is a Wood Oven Baked Gamberi – Oven baked prawns, covered in a creamy peri-peri sauce, topped with cheese. We shared this dish of spicy and saucy prawns served with focaccia to dip with. Thoroughly enjoyed with not a morsel left over.

Our mains included the new Carbonara Pasta with Macon and Parmasan for me and the Feta Prego Fillet Steak for him – 250g succulent fillet topped with a tomato and feta prego sauce. Served with green beans on a bed of mash. While the steak is not new it is a favourite on their menu. The steak was done medium to well exactly as requested and was simply superb. My Carbonara pasta was mild and I needed some chilli to liven it up, though hubby thought it was great as is.
The kiddo had a margherita pizza. No surprises there. Him being an 8 year old I eventually gave up trying to convince him to try the new Salvatore Pizza on the menu – Salami, peppadew™, feta, olives, rocket, chilli, garlic.
Dessert was the new baked cheesecake to share. I found the cheesecake itself a bit dry but the chocolate hazelnut sauce that it was served with was thick and luscious and more than made up for it.

This venue is always a good option for an intimate dinner or date night so go try out their new menu this season.

Special mention for their takeaway pizza box. I thought it was so artistic and much more exciting than most other boxes out there. What do you think?
