The Spar Cape Town Ramadaan Expo is Back!

The SPAR Cape Town Ramadaan and Lifestyle Expo, previously known as the Radio 786 Ramadaan Expo has embedded itself into the hearts and minds of people from the Cape. Established in 2010, the event now boasts a key element of lifestyle, demonstrating that the principles of Ramadaan are universal. Now staged at one of Cape Town’s most prestigious venues, the event celebrates the melting pot of cultures that is South Africa.

This year’s event takes place from the 25th to 27th March 2022 at the Green Point Track, Greenpoint, Cape Town. This popular, and historic venue provides the ideal, open-air venue while we are still dealing with the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Expo is strategically held over three days in the lead-up to the Muslim month of fasting. It harnesses the multi-billion rand buying power of the Halaal market, contributing not only to the sustaining of jobs, but creating new relationships in the socio-business fraternity.

What started out as a small informal market has now grown to attract some twenty thousand patrons pitting it against much larger, well-established events. It soon became one of the biggest events of its kind, growing from a modest civic centre to being showcased at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The first and only event of its nature that has successfully grown from the Cape Flats to now being staged to showcase Cape Town in all its forms to the rest of the world.

The primary objective was to showcase Ramadaan in the Cape and to bring small and medium-sized businesses under one roof, enhancing access for start-ups and outreach initiatives. It demonstrated the culture of the people of the Cape and enhanced trade in the local economy.

Each year the event grows, diversifying its offering and enhancing value to its patrons and caters to individuals of all cultural backgrounds. The multi-faceted event offers shopping, live entertainment, food and lifestyle demonstrations and a fun-filled experience for the entire family.
