Our Readers Choice for the Top 5 Halaal Restaurants in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban is back!
Halaal dining is becoming a buzzword among mainstream foodies. No longer relegated to mom and pop eateries, halaal restaurants have taken a firm hold in popular food locations and high end malls.
Many franchises which did not see the value for a long time are now clamouring to get halaal branches launched. We’ve even seen international brands like EL&N London opening up a halaal outlet in South Africa. The global Time Out Market has launched at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town with the fully halaal Barakat as part of the offering.
Dry Bars are taking centre stage with huge innovation in mocktails and non alcoholic beverages. Fine dining is growing with another new spot that opened at the Monarch Hotel in Johannesburg. Trending foods include Japanese Mochi, all things Korean, elevated Fast Food and Boba everywhere.
We want to recognise the standout halaal eateries for the past year and want you to vote for your favourite restaurant in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. Some criteria you should bear in mind are:
- Quality of food
- Presentation of food
- Service
- Atmosphere
This year we will also be introducing our Critic’s List which will be a separate list curated by known foodies and critics in the halaal space. Look out for that to be released shortly after the Readers Vote.
But first, let’s kick off the Reader’s Vote!
