Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is one of the most sacred times for Muslims. It is the month in which the Qur’an was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad PBUH “as a guidance for men and women, a declaration of direction, and a means of salvation.”
This year Ramadaan will begin on the eve of 11 March pending the sighting of the moon. We have created convenient Ramadaan timetables for each of the 3 main regions in South Africa. Download your version at the links below to keep on your phone or print it out to stick on your fridge.
There’s some useful resources for Ramadaan on our website. Just search the blog section for Ramadaan and find lots of great content. We have recipes for making savouries like Half Moons or my mom’s Chicken Samoosas. Or you may want to know how to make Nabeez, a Sunnah drink made with dates. There’s also a Ramadaan Menu Planner to take some of the work out of planning what to prepare for Sehri and Iftar. And lots more.
Please remember to keep our brothers and sisters in Palestine in your duas. Make sure you continue to boycott as hurting Israel in the pocket is one of the only things many of us can do. Here is our recent post about boycotting Dates from Israel. There’s more than you think in our stores.
May your Ramadaan be peaceful and blessed.
From all of us in the Hungry for Halaal family.
