These spiral baklavas captured my imagination. They’re giving me banana puri vibes and they’re perfectly pretty for your Eid or special occasions table. Thank you @fatima_wadee where I saw it first. It’s so simple. Here’s my method.
Nutty Spiral Baklava
Ingredients
I pkt rolled up phyllo pastry @medideliza
150g melted butter
3 Tbsp chopped almonds
3 Tbsp chopped pistachio
More for topping
Preheat your oven to 180 deg.
Unroll your phyllo. Brush the middle sheet with butter and sprinkle with nuts. Re-roll it loosely and cut into 2.5cm slices or 12 equal slices.
Place into a buttered muffin pan. Brush generously with more melted butter. Make sure to go down the sides as well. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes till golden.
Syrup
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp elachi (cardamom) powder
1 tsp rose water
Combine all in a pot. Let it come to a quick boil and remove from heat before it gets too thick.
Pour hot syrup over over the spirals as soon as they come out the oven. Top with more nuts and rose petals.
