In the concrete jungle that is the modern world our lives are filled with the hustle of work, technology, gym, kids… basically the daily grind. Social isolation is often an unexpected consequence of all this busy-ness. Our lives are so full that meeting people and making friends becomes secondary and increasingly difficult.
Organised social groups can be a welcome breath of fresh air to help bring tangible human connection back into our lives. Enter… Social Society, exclusive social events for Muslims.
Social Society began as an idea shared between two friends, ages 35 and 38, who saw a gap in the community. Despite the abundance of social groups available, they noticed a lack of options that cater to halaal preferences. With a passion for bringing people together, they set out to create a platform where individuals could engage in a variety of group activities such as game nights, cooking classes, hikes, and braai days in a safe and welcoming environment. Currently based in Cape Town, they have a view to expanding to the rest on South Africa.
Understanding the challenges of meeting new people and forming connections as we get older, Social Society aims to offer more than just social gatherings. The platform is designed to facilitate meaningful interactions and allow individuals to participate in enjoyable activities without the hassle of planning and organizing.
With a curated lineup of events, they provide opportunities for you to join in on fun and enriching experiences without the administrative burden. Their goal is to make it easier for you to connect with others and do things you might not want to do alone. Within the community you can create lasting memories and build new friendships – whether you’re new to the city, need to get out of the house and have a break from it all, would like to broaden your circle of friends or would just like the safety of doing activities in groups.
Since their launch in July, they have had consistent growth of a vibrant group of members. Their debut burger and games night was filled with crazy laughter, banter and great food.
