As the very first branch in the Spur Group to go fully halaal, Rodeo Spur has always been at the forefront of delighting families with the iconic Spur experience. True to nature, they are now also the first halaal store in Cape Town to transform into the brand new look and feel of the Spur brand.

Where it began

This Claremont branch initially opened as a normal Spur in 1991. After the demand for halaal became more and more apparent, it went fully halaal around 2003. It was then bought over by Mr A Mohamed of the Polar Group in 2008 and has remained with them ever since.

A Gen X icon

It’s where Gen X’ers made their first halaal Spur memories. Where the Spur salad valley was first experienced, where chips and crispy onion rings became a standard with steak and where you came for every kids birthday, an ice cream with sparkler and the Spur song! The Rodeo Spur branch has strong roots to the Cape Town Muslim community.

The New Look

While the Spur logo and branding has changed into a modern stylised version of the classic Indian Chief over a year ago, it has taken time for the modernisation to roll out into the actual decor of the stores and is still an ongoing process.

The updated elements have made a significant impact to the feel of the Rodeo Spur. The interior is brighter and lighter and we also see the return of those iconic palomino-hide bench seats from previous years but with a slightly modern spin.

New features include a central dining space with comfortable booth seating and refreshed decor. There will be a more adult-focused area for smaller, intimate occasions. They are also more wheelchair friendly and have tables with chairs that can be moved to more easily accommodate a wheelchair.

The kids area has had a huge upgrade. The interior is brighter and feels bigger and more spacious. The play gym is brand new and there are arcade games and a virtual gaming station for the older kids.

The new glass lighting fixtures hanging from the ceilings are pure art. They are still true to the original Spur theme but have been beautifully re-imagined to suit the contemporary new look.

A Grand Opening

On Friday, 4th April, Rodeo Spur relaunched with their brand new look in the presence of close friends and family. Mr Mohamed and friends cut the ribbon ushering in the new era of this iconic branch.

With the return of some of the previous management team, the re-vamped Rodeo Spur promises to be the place you’ll want to keep going back to, and make new Spur memories.
