HOUSE REVIEW
Here is a restaurant that has really stepped up over the last few years and come into it’s own. La Rocca has in the past usually been a last choice for me, however, since discovering their excellent Rocky Steak Burgers, they have become a firm favourite.
Located downstairs at the No.1 entrance at Canal Walk, it has a casual and inviting vibe. It’s unassuming and best of all lacks pretension. It’s in the middle of the aisle and has something of a sidewalk cafe kind of feel, just inside a mall. It’s great for a quick bite before you head home or for coffee and cake when you want something sweet. And their breakfast is not bad either.
The service is not bad if you consider that they turn around customers pretty quickly. It’s seldom that I’ve passed by and they haven’t been busy.
The menu is mostly light meals with some great Tramezzinis and the Rocky burgers rival the Spur anytime.
I always have the steak version though, and the steak is always just right. Last night I tried their Mexican Delight, which is a soft Tortilla filled with beef or chicken and refried beans, salsa and guacamole on the side. I was actually surprised at how good it was. Firstly, a generous portion and secondly tasted so authentic, I could have been at Panchos. They also make a great mango juice, thick and smooth. Another of my usuals. My only complaint is that their pasta portions are a little small. So if the guys at La Rocca are reading this, how about making your pastas a weenzy bit bigger. And bring back the Al Forno Carne. Really liked that.
La Rocca is making a real effort with their menu. The quality is consistent and they cater for their Muslim patrons every year with something to break fast with at iftaar.
The food is well prepared, the service efficient. They can really hold their own among the other restaurants at Canal Walk.

The restaurant is conveniently situated at the Canal Walk mall. It’s very spacious and well setup. I ordered the pasta alforno and my husband had the rump steak. Both dishes were delicious. The service is good and prices are reasonable.
