HOUSE REVIEW:
As the name implies this venue is pretty much a casual diner. It’s not the American style late night stop where the waitress brings you black coffee and cherry pie type though. It’s more like a very efficient and very functional truck stop.
I say this because the one I visited is in Epping is in a complex that caters to the Epping Industrial area. But far from it being a grimy dive frequented by big burly truck drivers I was pleasantly surprised by the casual elegance of the venue.
The interior is neat, comfortable and is more sophisticated than expected. Warm colours and prints on the wall make it inviting and cosy. The booths look extremely comfortable and in spite of the bustling environment outside, the inside is like a quiet haven. It has a counter where you serve yourself from an array of Indian style foods, curries, rice, breyani, as well as grills, lasagna and salomies. They even have a braai going and you could have braaied chops during your lunch hour. Food gets weighed and you pay and sit down or take it away.
I tried the Mince Salomie which was ok, and the Chicken Lasagne which was very good. Prices are pretty much as per the standard you’d pay in most take-aways which makes it cheap if you’re sitting down.
It’s a place I’d never have thought to go for a meal out. But if you need something quickly and don’t want to stay in the office or be at home it’s a good choice.
