I had lunch at Shift this Saturday past.It was full and we waited for a bit for a table but we didn’t mind as it was a girls day catch up. It was my first time, with my friend having been there before with no complaints. We got a table in less than 25 minutes and took our time with the menu. I ordered the Steak Salad and my friend ordered the Chicken & Broccoli Bowl we waited just over 45 minutes for our food. but again we didn’t mind as we were catching up. Drinks were an americano and a banana milk latte. Again no complaints. But then my daughter and her 3 friends pitched for their girls day. They were told in no uncertain terms that they couldn’t sit any of the available 4 tables. They were told eats would be an hour at least, and so they were not serving anything from the menu, and were again told that they couldn’t have a seat, with no other explanation. Sadly they weren’t even allowed to order coffee or even cakes. One of the managers then came over to apologize to them, but by then the experience had soured for all of us. Needless to say, my daughter and her friends left.. Disappointing to say the least. they went on to have a lovely meal at Sabria’s. Myself and my friend finished our meals and didn’t stay for dessert. While we finished up, the 4 empty tables were filled by other guests, who may or may not have ordered meals and were waiting an hour or longer or not for their meals. I can’t say. Shift Claremont won’t be my first choice next time I venture out. Back to the food… the Steak I ordered as medium came well done. I didn’t complain because the rest of the Salad was fresh, crunchy and with enough dressing to disguise the Steak. My friend’s Bowl was filled to the brim and extra dressing needed, to give it a boost. The drinks were all good, with the bruleed Banana on the Latte a lovely touch.
