Smasht. Claremont

HOUSE REVIEW:
This small local brand, started as a weekend pop-up and now has a permanent spot on Belvedere road in Claremont. They serve up a small curated menu of smash burgers and loaded fries. We had the double classic and the jalapeño and both were meaty and filling. The patty had the proper smash burger vibe but was a little on the dry side. The jalaneno with spicy sauce wasn’t as spicy as it could have been, which for me was actually fine. Skinny fries could have been a little more crispy. I find most smash burgers don’t add spice and flavour to their patties. I was missing a bit more flavour in the meat.
The seating area is super-cute but because it’s outside and it was raining we couldn’t eat there. Make sure you don’t have a long drive home if you’re getting a takeaway.
Prices on average are R120 for burger and chips. The chocolate milkshake slapped! And they offer Kingsley and other Coke alternatives.
